Archive began with a review of work I have made over the course of my career. I was struck by the recurrence of a knees-to-chest, almost fetal pose, and photographed a single model reenacting a selection of images in which it occured. After printing the photographs, I removed his body from its original context by cutting out the figure, which I taped to the distressed walls of my studio. I affixed a label with the name of the original photographic subject and the date of the original photograph beneath each one. Inspired in part by the work of Sarah Charlesworth and Peter Hujar, the series continues my interest in the language of the human body, rephotography, and photographic space.
