sweat | 2016-7 | photography

36 x 36 inches
Archival Pigment Prints
Edition: 1

This untitled series is a group of self-portraits where the subject has been removed leaving residue and reflections in its place. Photography often fights against reflection in both its execution and its presentation, but this series embraces it.

Each print is unique and is titled with the date of the effort that created the sweat that serves as a starting point for each image. The sweat was created through vigorous exercise over a period of 1-2 hours, a structuralist reference to the printing process.

The series pushes my frequent use of re-photography into new territory by employing the computer screen as a photographic surface. The grid of dots is from the reflection of an LED panel on the computer screen.
